How Do BCAAs Help Me Train?

Posted by Jidy Archibald on

For those of us looking for a quick and easy fix when it comes to building your ‘Bondi Body’ (aren’t we all!) unfortunately there’s no such thing.  Getting fit, trim, losing weight and toning your muscles takes:

  • Regular exercise,
  • A healthy diet plan and
  • Consistency.

Assuming you are following a healthy diet and are working out regularly, you may also wish to use dietary and health supplements to help get yourself to where you want to be and to take your training to the next level.

Today we’re going to be taking a look at how a relatively little known supplement called Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs for short) can help you blast your workouts harder and recover quicker.

BCAAs are performance-enhancing amino acids every single person who lives an active lifestyle should supplement with. They have some amazing clinically proven benefits including: Boosting Aerobic Exercise Performance, Reducing Fatigue During Your Workouts, Increasing Fat Burned During Exercise, Speeding Up The Development Of Toned Muscle.

BCAAs support muscle growth – If you’re looking to increase your muscle and burn more fat, BCAAs are extremely beneficial.  BCAAs are made up of three amino acids: Leucine, Valine, and Isoleucine, and it is the Leucine that supports muscle growth as it has been found to stimulate protein synthesis. Protein synthesis is the natural process in which your body synthesises muscle proteins. Very technical, I know, but basically, the greater the rates of protein synthesis, the greater the rates of muscle growth and recovery you will be able to enjoy.

BCAAs reduce muscle soreness – Whether you’re an athlete, a bodybuilder, or just somebody that enjoys working out inside and outside of the gym, one thing you’ll have noticed after training, is that your muscles ache. This is known as Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, or DOMS for short, and it is something that can hinder your performance until you recover fully. BCAAs however, help to increase the rate in which your muscles repair themselves, which means that you experience less pain after you train. This is why supplements such as Bondi Coffee’s Workout Booster Blend have been enriched with BCAAs, so that you can recover faster after training and get back into the gym as close to 100% as possible.

BCAAs reduce fatigue when training – When working out, the last thing you want is for your muscles to become tired and to run out of steam. This could be disastrous because you won’t be able to get as much from your workouts as you wanted. It doesn’t matter how motivated and driven you are, if your muscles don’t have the energy needed to train, they can’t function properly. When we exercise, our muscles use BCAAs as a source of energy. These amino acids are quickly used up. When we supplement with BCAAs however, we are replacing the amino acids we lost and are providing our muscles with more energy. The more energy our muscles have, the harder they can work and the more productive our workouts become.

BCAAs promote fat loss – While BCAAs aren’t renowned for their thermogenic properties, it turns out that they can help to promote and support fat loss in a variety of different ways. To begin with, BCAAs help to provide increases in energy, and so the more energy we have, the more calories we can burn. As well as that, BCAAs also increase glucose tolerance levels and help to improve rates of lipid oxidation. If you’re looking for a lean and chiselled physique, BCAAs are ideal.
